In 2001 the Monopoly authority will continue the practice of organizing seminars, consultations and workshops with the aim of further familiarizing of the expert and wider public with the provisions from the Law against Limiting Competition.

" Lawyers’ advising on implementation of the Law against Limiting Competition in Republic of Macedonia ”.

The “Lawyers’ advising on implementation of the Law against Limiting Competition in Republic of Macedonia ” was held on 14.02.2001 in hotel Holiday Inn premises, and in collaboration with the Lawyers Chamber. The chairman of this seminar was Mr. Herbert Sauther – expert of European and German Competition Law, coordinator appointed by GTZ and carrier of the project “Consultant services for the Monopoly Authority in Republic of Macedonia”

The advising was opened by Mrs. Sanja Milanovic – Director of the Monopoly Authority where she gave short review on the enacted Law against Limiting Competition and the competencies of the Monopoly Authority. She has also introduced Mr. Sauther to the lawyers present.

The next speaker was Mr. Nenad Janakievik – President of the Lawyers Chamber that has emphasized the necessity of close cooperation between the Monopoly Authority and the Lawyers Chamber.

Mr. Sauther pointed out that the lawyers at the moment presents the carriers that will contribute most directly to population of the Law. He also emphasized the need of existing the Law against Limiting Competition that arises out of the economic system of the country i.e. market economy. Mr. Suther also pointed out the freedom of receiving data as the most important element for proper functioning of the market economy.

After the speech of Mr. Sauther, a discussion was opened where the lawyers were asking questions related to certain articles from the Law and the necessity of changing and amending certain provisions.
